Three steps from image to paths.
Right-click is the fastest route. The extension action also opens a blank tracer when you want to upload, drop, or paste an image yourself.
- 01Choose an image
Right-click a visible image and select Trace image to SVG, or open the extension and select a local file.
- 02Refine the trace
Compare Original and SVG paths side by side while adjusting threshold, cleanup, and simplification.
- 03Export the result
Download the SVG file, or use Pro to copy the SVG markup directly to the clipboard.
Each control has one clear job.
Begin with Balanced detail and the default values. Change one control at a time and watch the vector preview.
- Black threshold
- Controls which tones become foreground. Raise it to include lighter gray marks; lower it when shadows create unwanted shapes.
- Invert foreground
- Traces light artwork on a dark background instead of the usual dark artwork on white.
- Close small gaps
- Connects nearby breaks before tracing. Useful for scanned ink, generated line art, and open outlines.
- Minimum region
- Removes isolated shapes smaller than the selected size. Increase it to clear dust, texture, and tiny artifacts.
- Path simplification
- Reduces the number of path points. Higher values create smoother, lighter SVG files but can remove fine detail.
- Trace detail
- Fast favors speed, Balanced suits most artwork, and Pro Fine preserves more small contours.
Use the workflow that fits the source.
PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, and BMP images can be opened directly. Browser capture is best when the image is already visible on a webpage.
Start with clean contrast.
- Use dark artwork on a plain light background whenever possible.
- Crop away captions, borders, shadows, and unrelated page elements.
- Raise Minimum region before increasing simplification when the trace contains specks.
- Turn on Close small gaps for broken outlines; turn it off when nearby lines should remain separate.
- Use only artwork you own or are legally entitled to trace and export.
