Overview
Haywire Software provides SVG Line Tracer, a Chrome extension for tracing images, editing artwork, and exporting SVG, 3MF, DXF, PDF, and PNG files. We designed the extension to process artwork locally and collect as little information as practical. This policy includes the project, recovery, and font features prepared for version 0.6.13.
Image and website content
When you explicitly choose "Trace image to SVG," the extension reads the selected image URL, alternate text, page title, and visible bounds. Retrieving the original image contacts its source website and can use your browser credentials for that website. A fallback may capture the visible tab locally before cropping, so the temporary screenshot can include surrounding page content. If image bounds are unavailable, it can contain more than the selected image. These pixels and capture details stay in your browser; they are not sent to Haywire's billing service.
Uploaded and pasted images, source edits, authored vectors, text, settings, and selected font names are processed locally. They can be stored in local recovery and saved project files. Haywire does not collect general browsing history or receive your artwork as part of tracing, editing, or licensing requests.
Fonts and saved projects
Imported TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 fonts are processed locally. Used imported fonts are included in saved projects and recovery. "Load installed fonts" optionally requests browser permission to list font families; it does not embed those installed font files. Sharing a project shares the artwork and font assets it contains. Artwork and font files are not sent to the billing service.
Licensing information
The extension creates a random persistent installation identifier, also available as a Support ID. It sends that identifier to Haywire for plan and entitlement checks, including on the Free plan, and for checkout, subscription management, and credit redemption. This identifier is pseudonymous and can be associated with billing records; it is not used to follow your browsing activity. Free-export counts stay on your device. Paid redemption sends the installation identifier, export mode, and a redemption identifier to prevent duplicate charges.
Payments
Stripe processes one-time Starter Pack and subscription payments. Stripe may collect your name, email address, billing address, payment method, tax information, and transaction details under Stripe's own privacy terms. Haywire receives customer, purchase, subscription, invoice, and payment-status information needed to provide and support paid access. Haywire does not receive your full card number.
Website advertising measurement
Haywire uses the Google Ads tag and Meta Pixel on haywiresoftware.com to understand whether an advertisement leads to a visit to the SVG Line Tracer listing in the Chrome Web Store. When you allow measurement, Google and Meta may receive cookies or advertising identifiers, device and browser information, referral and campaign information, the page you visited on haywiresoftware.com, and the Store-link conversion event for measurement and attribution. Google may also receive the Google Click ID. Meta may use this information to measure and improve advertising under Meta's own privacy terms. Haywire does not send source images, generated SVGs, extension browsing activity, or payment details in these events.
Measurement is denied by default. The Meta Pixel does not load unless you allow measurement. Google advertising storage and analytics storage are also denied until you allow measurement, while Google ad-user-data use and ad personalization remain denied. You can change your choice using the "Measurement choices" control displayed on the site.
Embedded video
The SVG Line Tracer product page includes a YouTube video using YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode. YouTube may receive your IP address, device and browser information, and interaction data when the player loads or you play the video, subject to Google's privacy terms. The embedded player does not receive source images, generated SVGs, extension browsing activity, or payment details.
Retention and sharing
The capture job is removed after successful loading. Failed or abandoned captures may remain until replaced or local storage is cleared. Local recovery remains until replaced or extension storage is cleared. Your installation identifier, cached plan and credit status, and weekly or monthly free-export counts remain on your device until replaced, cleared, or the extension is removed. Downloaded project and export files remain until you delete them.
Haywire stores credit transactions and licensing records as reasonably needed to provide purchased access, accounting, support, fraud prevention, disputes, and legal obligations. We share data with Stripe only for billing, with Google and Meta only for consent-controlled website advertising measurement, and with infrastructure providers only as needed to operate the service.
Your choices
You can use the Free plan without giving Haywire an email address. Installed-font access is optional. You can clear local extension storage, including recovery, by removing the extension; downloaded files must be deleted separately. Removing or clearing the extension may remove the local identifier used to find purchased access; contact support with your receipt if you need help restoring it. To request access, correction, or deletion of billing, credit, and licensing records, contact support@haywiresoftware.com.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Haywire does not sell extension user data, use it for personalized advertising, or allow humans to read captured image content except when you provide specific content for support and consent to that review.
